Katie Tobin is a national security expert with two decades of experience working in government, the private sector and United Nations.
From 2021 to 2024, Katie served in the White House National Security Council under the Biden-Harris Administration. Appointed as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Transborder, Tobin led U.S. policy on a wide-range of cross-border national security matters, including migration management, aviation and maritime security, border security, global immigration and visa policy, and security screening and vetting.
Tobin also served for nearly a decade with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), as well as the Department of Homeland Security and a private law firm in Chicago.
In addition to consulting, Tobin currently serves as a nonresident scholar with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace' American Statecraft Program, is a Pritzker Fellow at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics and is a regular press contributor.
